Tamil Nadu plans to support the digital agriculture mission.

This year, the Tamil Nadu state government has decided to take a step toward providing farmers with easy-to-use soil and crop analysis software. This provides a supporting point to the central government’s digital agriculture mission. The emphasis on technology upbringing in the state will be done from the state level to the taluka level platforms. Minister MRK Paneerselvam has also emphasised the importance of bringing measures to revenue generation for agricultural sustainability. Following this, the government has announced its plan to construct a new testing laboratory in Mayiladuthurai district.

While highlighting the budget discussion points, the Agriculture Secretary said that the government will take measures to bring innovative measures to the agriculture industry at large. The first step of the government towards innovative measures will be to develop soil estimation software which can be operable on smartphones and cyber platforms as open-source access. Software will be made so people can find the survey number, patta details, and get the health card.

The agriculture execution process for the soil estimation project will categorise the zones into micro-agro-climatic zones. The highlighting factor of the software will be to display:

Survey numbers

Patta details

Villages are subdivided based on climate zone.

Land owner information

soil health tracking cloud system.

Record of cultivated crops

And to maintain land records.

This software also uses its artificial intelligence estimation tools to monitor pest infection in crops. This software is promised to give farmers a platform to record and maintain soil mineral values on software. which will help farmers understand their soil and crop fertility all on one platform.
